Unusual Sterling Silver Napkin Ring from the USMA West Point, Class of 1923

This listing is for a single sterling silver napkin ring by LH Markowitz.
It is engraved with the name "Lew Myers Morton" and "Class of 1923" as shown.
The napkin ring is marked LH Markowitz New York Sterling. The napkin ring measures 1 3/4" across and 1 1/4" tall.  These were given to the graduates of West Point.
Captain Lew Myers Morton was born on February 2, 1899 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He passed on January 1, 1963 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetary.
His son, Richard Lew "Rigger" Morton rose to the rank of Brigadier General.  Brigadier General Morton was a career officer in the US Army, serving from 1945 to his retirement in 1974.  He served in World War II, the Korean Conflict as well as Vietnam.  He received the Combat Infantry Badge, the World War II Victory Medal, the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, an Air Medal as well as three Purple Hearts.
Captain Morton was commissioned in the Air Service, but later served in the Coast Artillery and Quartermaster Corps.  He was stationed on Corregidor Island in the Phillipines, in China, Hawaii, and Panama through the 1920s and 1930s.  He retired from service in 1938 due to medical disability, and retired to Fort Wayne, Indiana.
