RTI activist says he has proof of Siddaramaiah’s involvement in MUDA case

More irregularities in Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment came to notice when an RTI activist alleged that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had undue influence on the process. According to him, a special tehsildar paid the stamp duty for the site allotted to Siddaramaiah’s wife.
RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna, in a post on Facebook on November 10, wrote in Kannada that he had proof of Chief Minister’s sway on the allotment irregularities, even though Siddaramaiah said he didn’t have any influence on it.
Krishna wrote in Kannada: “I’m giving another testimony that your influence has! Those who get the bill registration should pay the registration fees, so what. Manjunath has paid the stamp fees. But notice Siddaramaiah’s wife Mrs. Parvati’s brief letter, it is sure that Mudada’s (sic) special tehsildar has paid the stamp fees! Do you need more proof for my accusation? Will Siddaramaiah answer to the people of the state?”
Talking to India Today, he reiterated that deed registrants should pay the registration charges. “In this case, on behalf of Parvati, the special tahsildar has paid the charges. Each deed document costs Rs 550. It might be a small amount, but Parvati should have paid this. There were 14 papers in all,” he said.
“I request the Lokayukta to consider these points as well in their investigation,” Krishna added.
Siddaramaiah was questioned for over two hours by the Lokayukta police on November 6, over his reported involvement in the MUDA land allotment scam.
Reacting to the latest development, former chief minister and BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai said that all angles of the scam must be identified.
BJP MLA in the state Mahesh Tenginkai said that while Siddaramaiah claimed that he returned the 14 sites illegally allotted to his wife in Mysuru, whatever has happened in connection with this is coming out one by one.
He said, “Whatever information Snehamayi Krishna has revealed, it should be looked into further and the MUDA scam should be thoroughly investigated. And since the chief minister’s name is involved in this, he should hand in his resignation.”
Siddaramaiah has asserted frequently that he would not resign, and reiterated there was no wrongdoing on his part in the MUDA land allotment case.
In September, a special court had ordered the Lokayukta to investigate the alleged irregularities in MUDA site allotment.
